Candidates must complete registration documents, which can be found below AND will be sent via email, to be eligible to tryout. After you’ve filled them out bring them to tryouts day-of or email them back to tryouts@thevalleysuns.com

Check-in will be held from 8:00-9:00am, with tryouts beginning at approximately 9:15am

Who is eligible to participate in tryouts?
Player Eligibility
In order to submit a player as a Local Tryout Player, each of the following criteria must be satisfied: (a) the player must not be considered a Prospect (as defined below), (b) the player must not be an International Player (as defined below), and (c) the player must have been eligible for and gone through an NBA Draft.
A “Prospect” is any player who:
(a) has been an NBA Draft pick;
(b) has been under contract with an NBA team at any time prior to NBA G League training camp rosters being set (12:00 P.M. (ET) on October 24, 2025);
(c) was a Division I All‑American, or a Division I All‑Conference performer (in the following conferences only Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, PAC 12, ACC, AAC, A10, or Mountain West), in the 2023‑24 or 2024‑25 season (“All‑American” is defined as a first, second or third team performer as selected by the Associated Press, USA Today or National Basketball Coaches Association and “All‑Conference” is defined as first, second or third team performer as selected by the Conference);
(d) played in an NBA Summer League game in 2024 or 2025;
(e) received end-of-season NBA G League recognition (including individual NBA G League awards like Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year, but not including a Sportsmanship Award, and any All‑NBA G League Teams) for the 2023‑24 or 2024‑25 seasons;
(f) attended the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in 2025; or
(g) attended the 2024 or 2025 NBA Draft Combine or NBA G League Elite Camp;
An “International Player” is a player who was born, and resides outside of, the United States, Canada, or Mexico, has never enrolled in a high school in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, and has never played in any exhibition, preseason, regular season, or postseason college basketball game in the United States or Canada.
If a Team submits a player who is a Prospect or an International Player as a Local Tryout Player, such player will be removed from the Team’s list and the Team will not be permitted to add an additional player. For clarity, if a player submitted by a Team subsequently becomes a Prospect by signing an NBA contract prior to 12:00 P.M. (ET) on October 24, 2025, such player will no longer be eligible to be designated as a Local Tryout Player on such Team’s training camp roster and may not be replaced.
Prospects and International Players will be permitted to attend Local Player Tryouts, provided such players have completed and submitted the Local Player Tryout Forms, but such players will not be eligible to be designated as a Local Tryout Player.
Where and when will Valley Suns open tryouts be held?
Valley Suns open tryouts will take place at Arizona State University Sun Devil Fitness Center’s Maroon Gym & Gold Gym on Saturday, September 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The facility is located at 400 E Apache Blvd, Tempe, AZ 85281.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Candidates must be at least 18 years old by the tryouts on September 13.
How do I register?
Candidates must register online at theValleySuns.com/tryouts by Friday, September 12 at 5:00 p.m. PT. Walk-up registrations will not be accepted.
What previous experience is required?
No previous experience is required as long as NBA G League eligibility requirements are met.
Is there a registration fee?
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $300.
Can spectators attend the local tryouts?
There will be no spectators permitted at the tryout.
